 We are committed to sustainable forest management practices that balance ecological, economic, and social considerations, ensuring the long-term viability of our forest resources.

With a team of highly skilled professionals, including foresters, wildlife biologists, fire ecologists, and educators, we are committed to:

 

a) Managing state-owned forests to maximize their ecological, economic, and recreational value.

b) Preventing and suppressing wildfires through proactive measures and strategic firefighting efforts.

c) Promoting sustainable forestry practices that support timber production, wildlife habitat enhancement, and soil and water conservation.

d) Engaging with the public through outreach, education, and partnership initiatives to raise awareness about the importance of forests and the role of forestry in our daily lives.

e) Conducting research, monitoring, and assessment activities to better understand forest ecosystems, identify emerging threats, and inform management decisions.

What We Do

Forest Management: We provide expert guidance and assistance in managing forested lands, including planning, harvesting, and regeneration practices that promote healthy and sustainable forests.

Wildfire Prevention and Management: Our team is dedicated to preventing and managing wildfires through education, fire risk assessments, prescribed burns, and coordinated firefighting efforts.

Conservation Programs: We administer conservation programs aimed at protecting and enhancing forest ecosystems, wildlife habitat, and biodiversity through initiatives such as land acquisition, habitat restoration, and species monitoring.

Timber Harvesting Oversight: We regulate and oversee timber harvesting operations on public and private lands to ensure compliance with forestry laws and regulations, promoting responsible and sustainable forestry practices.

Forest Health Assessments: Our experts conduct forest health assessments to identify and address threats such as invasive species, pests, diseases, and environmental stressors that impact the health and vitality of our forests.

Recreational Opportunities: We develop and maintain recreational facilities, trails, and amenities within state forests, providing opportunities for hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, and nature appreciation.

Education and Outreach: We offer educational programs, workshops, and resources to increase public awareness and understanding of forestry issues, promote responsible land stewardship, and foster appreciation for our forest resources.

Research and Monitoring: We conduct scientific research, monitoring, and data collection to inform forest management decisions, evaluate the effectiveness of our programs, and address emerging challenges facing our forests.

Forest Certification: We facilitate forest certification programs to recognize and reward landowners and managers who demonstrate commitment to sustainable forest management practices and responsible stewardship.

Emergency Response: In times of natural disasters or emergencies, we provide support and assistance to communities, landowners, and agencies in managing forest-related impacts and recovery efforts.

Technical Assistance: We offer technical assistance and guidance to landowners, municipalities, and other stakeholders on forestry-related matters, including land management planning, forest inventory, and best management practices.

Grant and Funding Opportunities: We administer grants and funding programs to support forest conservation, management, and restoration projects that benefit our communities and natural resources.
